Gordon Turner

gordonGordon Turner - Employment Law Solicitor

“Gordon’s unique selling point is that some of his ideas seem a bit odd at the time but tend to work”-

Chris Milsom, barrister, Cloisters Chambers

The Law Society Gazette once ran a feature on me ‘My legal life’ charting my unorthodox rise… from a sandwich round on a bicycle in Newcastle... to Employment Lawyer.

I qualified as a solicitor in 1993 and have focused solely on employment law for over 25 years. The first 10 years of my career were in a legal aid practice which was tough but it gave me a strong understanding of what people really want and how they respond…invaluable in commercial practice.

I’ve enjoyed a colourful career, dealing with cases from across the full spectrum and from time to time they have caught the public imagination. I’m sometimes asked to comment in the media on topical issues on programmes such as Radio 4’s Law in Action and Panorama and most recently on employment law issues cropping up in ‘The Archers’

compromiseI particularly enjoy training as an opportunity to help people better understand the Law… to avoid disputes and to help change things fairly. If you’re interested in training click here. I have been a trainer at organisations such as CIPD, ACCA, the British Consul in Toronto, Central Law Tutors and The Law Society but most of all I enjoy training employees. Most workers want a reasonable working environment as do their managers and training offers them the tools to achieve this.

Above all, I love Compromise and after all this time I still get a thrill from helping people find a safe way out of disputes. Even where a tribunal claim happens, I’ll always look at ways to resolve it before a costly hearing. Here’s a link to my Recent Cases…examples of how I have done this.
