It’s much better to use employment law at work than at an employment tribunal.
Rather than using law to argue about things that have gone wrong, we bring the subject to life: fixing things and helping employers and employees and bringing about change. Training is also an excellent defence to many claims- (the ‘reasonable steps’ defence in discrimination).
Here are some recent examples of my training service:

  • Line Managers - ARH Group. We visited 3 separate sites in the West Country and trained the line managers on their duties from an employment law perspective. If line managers can spot potential employment law issues, they can be sorted out there and then.
  • Elected Representatives - a Housing Association in Oldham invited us in to train employees who had been elected to represent the workforce during a period of large scale redundancies. This covered the basics on redundancy law but also negotiation skills.
  • TUPE Service Provision Change - employers in the service industries (cleaning, IT, legal etc.) need to understand the ‘nuts and bolts’ of TUPE and how to make best use of the consultation process and how to introduce changes on a transfer of a contract safely. Gordon Turner, Employment lawyer was a guest speaker on a Law Society webinar on 10th July 2015.
  • Banking debunked- with considerable press attention on discipline in the Financial Services sector, there is a risk that employees may be dismissed as scapegoats and the sheer complexity of the issues (LIBOR/FOREX etc.) can be a minefield. Together with leading figures from the City and Jason Galbraith-Marten QC, we aim to debunk the world of banking. Latest re-run on 11th June 2015
